Obtaining an NCCP Number

1. Go to www.coach.ca
2. Click on the tab called The Locker
3. Click on “Don’t have an account? Create one now!”
4. Check the box “I agree”
5. Check the box “I want to create a Locker account for access to my transcript, eLearning
opportunities, to sign up for coaching events, and more!” – Fill in your info – Click Register
6. Login to your email account and open the verification email that was sent to you.
7. Click on the “Click here” at the very end of the email.
8. Create a password
9. Click Submit
10. Click on the Icon “Profile”
11. In the left hand corner of your screen under your name is your NCCP#

ICU Credentialing

What is it

The ICU credentialing is offered through the International Cheer Union and includes an online course and a practical exam.

Costs

New credential (per level): $30 USD

Renewal (per level): $20 USD

ICU membership: No cost

Coach Credential Requirements for 2025-2026

This criteria below outlines the requirements for coaches to register with the OCF for the 2025-2026 season. These requirements will also be in place for accreditation at OCF events.

ALL Coaches, including Teachers employed by a school board and coaching a school team, must have the following qualifications:

An NCCP number through the Coaches Association of Canada (See below for instructions on how to obtain an NCCP#.) *
Hold a valid First Aid Certificate (Emergency First Aid with CPR-C) * See note 1 below.
Have successfully completed Making Headway Concussion Course
Have successfully completed Safe Sport
Have successfully completed Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders
Have successfully completed Making Ethical Decisions (Course plus Evaluation or Evaluation only)
Have successfully completed Understanding the Rule of Two (20 mins long / elearning module / free)**
Minimum Level 1/Novice ICU credentials (Completion of the Practical Assessment)*
Have successfully completed NCCP Planning a Practice

Coaches Renewing a membership

VSC is required every three (3) years
Submit an Enhanced Criminal Record Check every two (2) years
Complete the Screening Renewal Form every year

New OCF Coaching members (18 years of age or older)

Submit a valid Vulnerable Sector Check (A VSC is issued through your local police department.) *
The OCF will accept a clear VSC that has been completed within the last year.
For VSCs that have been completed more than one (1) year and less than three (3) years ago, complete a Screening Renewal Form.

Coaches under the age of 18 are NOT required to submit the following documentation:

Screening Renewal Form

* These items are required to be inputted or uploaded in order to complete the online registration application.

Once all the requirements have been verified as complete, your registration application will be processed and your OCF number for the 2025-2026 season will be issued.

Note 1 The requirements for first aid training are as follows:

Please note that these requirements apply to anyone needing to renew their first aid and to new coaching members

The course must include a practical, hands-on, in person component. Courses that include a combination of online and in-person hands-on practical training will be accepted.
It must include a written exam.
It must have an expiry date of no more than three (3) years from the date of completion.

Any coach currently working in a profession that requires first aid as part of his/her employment (nurses, paramedics, fire fighters, police officers) does not need to complete an additional first aid course. You will be required to provide proof of your certification.
